Oh, I agree that companies will hire and promote woman engineers based solely on the fact that they are female. Affirmative Action, and all that. (I worked for an oil company for 10 years. Any female in the business had a golden ticket. Competence was not even considered).

But I know a lot of women who are very competent in math, etc. But they don't want to be engineers. They prefer the Arts. But if your heart is really not into it, why go into a profession where you dread Mondays, or even just getting up in the morning?

My girlfriend steered her daughter into the engineering profession when she was just out of high school. Her daughter attended Michigan Tech University in the U.P. of Michigan and became a mechanical engineer at the age of 25. Today, the daughter works at the GM Tech Center in Warren, Mi. and earns a substantial wage. Women engineers can pretty much write their own ticket in this high tech world that we live in today.

One of the girls on our high school FIRST Robotics team became a mechanical engineer. Her Dad was another team mentor and a nuclear engineer. She got a full 4-year scholarship and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Very attractive gal but not a natural engineer type. But she will end up as a VP for Dominion Power some day. She and my son were co-founder students on the team.

I know a 16 year old ballerina who is a 3rd year college engineering major. :)

I didn't learn how to dance on my tiptoes until I was a technical sales engineer at twice that age.

Her mom is a doctor and her dad a Math PhD. She’s a talented and pretty girl with a brain and comes from a good family. God help the boys her age!

For money. That’s why they call it “work,” not “play.”

The bank said it gave $93 million last year in support of the arts, culture and education.

Why are they apologizing? Did they give more money to engineering and science?

Guess you’ve never seen auditions at the Joffrey.

How do they compare to mid term examinations for physics, chemistry, thermodynamics, calculus, and differential equations?

That’s ridiculous. The two aren’t comparable. One is an art the others are sciences and maths. Ballet is one of the most disciplined, difficult arts in the entire world with standards that, unlike some other arts, have not fallen for 200 years. There’s a reason you haven’t seen a ballet star sign a BLM petition. They have no time to concentrate on crap.

This suggests that they want people who can repay Wells Fargo loans. Engineers can. Starving artists, not so much.
