Lawyers win, all feeding from the same trough.
It sounds like they may have a right to be suspicious.
After my Mother passed in September of 2014, it was finally time to close the family trust and move on.
My Father was a smart man and put together the trust and every single scenario and outcomes were carefully mapped out.
Even though everything was cut and dried, I found out just who my siblings were. It wasn’t pretty.
All too common when 2nd marriages are involved. My Dad’s 2nd wife raided his estate with the help of her sleazy sister who bankrupted 3 different husbands. While he was in hospice, she was out shopping for clothing and dining to max out his credit cards as well. We had to threaten to sue the memorial park after trying to get a grave marker on his grave for 2 years. She had the rights but refused to finalize it. It took me a long time to get over it.
Fred was great in “Sinister”. I believe it was has last movie.
Money brings out the “best” in family members.
Lawyers are boils on the butt of human existence.
They need to be lanced and chained. And muzzled unless required.
And they should be forbidden from serving in any government capacity outside of the judiciary.
Lawyers are vermin.
My advice...
Never appoint co-conservators.
I remember when he and Lorrie Morgan were an item. Was in Nashville at the time that they broke up and that’s all that people there could talk about at the time, lol.
Death and the monetary leftovers turn family into monsters. Sometimes they take advantage of the elderly, forgetful parents before death. As my antique-store owning cousin said: their is one in every family. (Vulture, that is)
We all took good care of Mom while she was in a nursing home for 16 months.
Daily visits. Did her laundry with care in our homes. Provided quality adult diapers for her instead of subjecting her to the over priced garbage that was sold by the nursing home.
I was there every I wasn’t working, as was my sister. I took her down to the exercise classes on Friday’s and even helped the gal running the class with music from my laptop and fetching balls that got away from feeble fingers.
Rolled her to the beauty shop on Fridays to get a cut and set.
And when she left us, I was told...”I did more than you ever did!”
I guess I didn’t realize that it was a competition.
BTW...After sleeping in a chair in her room for three nights after she had suffered a massive stroke, I was the only one there with her.
She went suddenly. Not unexpected.
Got my ass chewed for not calling my sister sooner.
That is what I have to deal with. Still.
Great, just give it to the lawyers.
Greedy self important off spring....acting like jackals to get their perceived due
Oh indeed....it is what I call probate wars
You get to find out people’s true character
Other people’s guilt makes for unbecoming behavior
You are a saint. My mom is 90 yo and when she had her stroke I stayed with her every night. Thank god she recovered.
You can say that again
And there was no probate.
Just straight up and down.
A well constructed Family Trust.
Then, I got...
“I’ve been screwed!”
No, I’m not a saint. She was my Mother. She took care of me until I could take care of myself.
When she couldn’t take care of herself, it was our turn to do so.
Lost her at 96.
It was a good run.
