That; plus he signed the first legal abortion bill in the nation just four months after he took office, and gave the kiss of death to marriage with the nation's first "no-fault divorce" legislation.
He had led a valiant fight against Communism in Hollywood before his governorship; but Hollywood also provided him with so many gay and libertine friends that he was ignorant of the pernicious effects California legislation would have on the entire nation.
California's large population, bleeding-edge liberal universities and distance geographically and psychologically from DC makes them the bull in the china shop of every progressive agenda—whenever California throws a monstrous legislative or judicial tantrum, such as palimony in his time and weaponized sexual deviance and anti-Christianity in our time, the rest of the states soon follow.
