“Rogue” and “Traitorous” are not the same thing as “former”.
Her cats are plotting to kill and eat her for naming them that. Have you ever watched "My Cat From Hell"? Ever notice the really bad, attack cats all have hideous names? Seriously, if your name was Mr. Pink Fluffy Underpants, wouldn't you be out for blood?
That would seem to cover Robert Garwood. What about John Murtha? Marcus D. Robertson? Clayton Lonetree?
The last one was the best.
DS9 began with a stable of interesting personalities and plot set ups, but, before those were exhausted, new ones were added based on ongoing conflicts from the outside, with many episodes even taking place away from the station. The show runners and script writers did a good job of keeping DS9 fresh and evolving.
I agree, and it was hard to do in the sense that they were “stationary” as opposed to travelling all around.
DS9 avoided the Gilligan Island phenomenon of having a remote location absurdly busy with visitors. Instead, DS9 was cleverly situated like a Roman frontier fort at a river border crossing or a US Army fort at a similar strategic point in the West, with hostilities often threatening even as the protection the fort afforded led to greater stability and the growth of trade and a residential community. This offered DS9 a wide variety of characters and story lines, even more than NextGen. Quark and his dodgy maneuvers, for example, could not have been easily accommodated by the straight-laced Picard, but he fit with the run down DS9 and its mixed residents and blurred lines of authority.
