The ones made for China (with the adjustable ramp sight) had the stock slot. The ones made for Britain and Canada (which had a distinctive fixed sight) did not.
The British Inglises were in regular service into the 80s, even into the early 90s. The Canadian ones were in service until just a few years ago. While many of the British pistols made it to the States the Canadian Forces’ pistols, unfortunately, did not.

And in both cases, we’re being charitable calling them stupid. Evil is a more likely possibility.
