Yes, with the French, it can be either very pleasant or very unpleasant. With the Germans, you won’t find friendly, but it’s professional and efficient. Even when they are intentionally giving you a hard time.

This is a DHS shakedown courtesy of Obummer and his boy Jeh. Work slow-down is a classic union negotiating tool to win concessions. This is so transparent, it’s almost funny.

Why has this become this bad all of the sudden?

“There is no situation that can’t be made worse by adding more Government.”

This is one of those “functions” that should be turned over to the airlines ( as they have already done in several airports). This worlthless turd, Jeh Johnson couldn’t find his a$$ with both hands and a flashlight! Another Obola look alike!

“Just wait until TSA Unionizes, and stages a nationwide slowdown for Mo’ Money.”

They are already unionized! That’s part of the problem.

We recently went to NOLA and found TSA to be quick. I opted-out and was summarily fondled, but the whole process took less than 5 minutes.

My impressions, however, are that the entire process is a needless dog-and-pony show. Even being patted down, all they’re doing is swabbing their gloves for particulates. If a foreign entity wanted to, they just have to develop an explosive that doesn’t react to the current crop of tests.

The TSA in NOLA was waving through women with babies and elderly in wheelchairs with nothing more than a mag scan. I was worried about putting a tactical flashlight in my carry on, but they said nothing about the folding knife or my laptop in my bag despite being instructed to take them out of the bags separately.

TSA is nothing more than a feint. They do nothing except cow the sheep among us into a false sense of security. I have no doubt in my mind that a willing and intelligent foreign agent or terrorist organization could make it through checks undetected.

I've been thinking that for years. You have literally thousands of people penned up like cattle in a small area, with no place to go. Half a dozen guys with automatic weapons and some propane canisters could do an incredible amount of damage. There really isn't any way to stop that, that I can think of.

Once it started, you know the TSA wouldn't let people get through the line to get away from the slaughter. And we already know that some airport cops are unarmed.

Note to LEO's and intelligence agents combing this site - I'm harmless. And if I've thought of it, you can be d@mn sure others with much more training and cleverness than me have thought of it, and more. Go find them.

I travel a lot (Delta Diamond) and think the TSA creates more risks that it prevents. Consider the packed crowds OUTSIDE security and where most airport bombings occur. Thank TSA for putting th public at risk. /s

Of course they already thought of it. LAX was hit twice. This is a huge target that the TSA is making for the terrorists. I am so afraid of the lines that I stopped flying. Who wants to pay a large amount for vacation and spend the first day and last day sitting in a TSA line. I used to travel 50K to 100K miles a year. I have 900,000 miles on United, but flying is such a chore. I only do it once or twice a year now.

Of course someone could easily get through TSA. But why. You have a large crowd of 2 hundred sitting right there. All you have to do is get near the line. Its too stupid to think about. I agree that the only purpose for TSA is to set an example of giving up your rights against unwarranted search.

Their safety argument, “if it saves even one life”, is crap. By that standard we would not have bears, or cars, or skiis, or Chicago. The reality is that the constitution clearly limits the police, knowing that its safer to give the police total control. But thats not a free life. So the police have to do their job without all the tools that they would want when they are feeling lazy.

Yes, at first the TSA weren’t unionized. But the democrats bargained hard to get them in the union. I have such contempt for Ffederal employees I can barely go to the post office. Its like going back in time. In our town, there are 4 post offices all within 4 square miles. And we are in the suburbs. Its literally a 3 minute drive from one to another. But the wait at each one with two people in front of you can be ten minutes. TO BUY A STUPID STAMP. Can you tell me why we still use stamps?

Very odd indeed. My child just flew out of the Int’l terminal at ORD last Saturday and the TSA line took over an hour. Strange

Kansas City - it would take a skilled professional to do a poorer job of designing an airport - an ordinary architect couldn’t do that bad of a job.

If the Kansas City airport is the same as what I saw about a decade ago, it's a pre-TSA and even pre-airport security design.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_International_Airport#TWA.27s_flawed_vision

You could be dropped off right in front of your gate, just like at D/FW. But, Kansas City doesn't have enough room for an "inner tier" to put up a security checkpoint and they had to build them on an ad-hoc basis every few gates.

That’s still the way it works. For a lot less than the planned billion dollars, and given the light vehicular traffic these days, they could have built out onto the existing sidewalk (relocating the sidewalk onto a portion of the circular roadway) far enough to take all of the existing corridor into the secure zone. They are only using 2 terminals at this point, the other has been abandoned for air traffic and is slated for demolition at this point.

DFW doesn’t work as originally intended for a completely different reason. When built, each airline was contained in a single terminal, and you’d land at the same terminal (and parking complex) as your departure. Now, American has 3.5 of the terminals, and you are likely to land across the airport from where you departed. So paying for terminal parking doesn’t make much sense, as you are going to have a bus ride if you checked luggage (which will probably be longer than the ride to the express lots). Instead of re-building the existing terminals (which is what they are doing), they probably need to build a mid-field departure complex serving all terminals.

And they were foolish enough to pick the wrong union (two were competing for the representation.).

That’s usually my threshold too, for business trips. I’ve only ever flown somewhere for persona a couple times.

My daughter is using some of my points to come visit us tomorrow. She has a 5:30 am flight and if planning to just get to the airport tonight around 11am. One of her roommates is dropping her off and she doesn’t want to make her get up at 2am.

I guess 6 hours early should be OK
