I ran Xcountry in HS in the sixties, not that I was any good at it, but I did it. To me it was pure torture, to be honest. After every race I would castigate myself for being such a wussie, and resolve to do better. It was good for my health, though. I had the heartbeat of a tree stump.
Underwater swimming was always my forte, as that is how I learned to swim ... by holding my breath. I once swam 75 meters, ( three laps, with a dive ) underwater, but only once! Two laps was routine. I retain this affinity, quantitative comparisons notwithstanding.

In that case I'd recomend 30-to-40 minutes of steamy sex.

Agree. I have a water rower and it is very calming. Almost Zen like. The rhythmic motion with the sound of the water swishing in the tank is like meditation. My stepson used to row competitively and used to talk about how relaxed he felt after a practice or race.
Giving new meaning to the term “jog your memory.”
In olden days the mind was clearer with a good smoke.
They are now discovering that long distance running is detrimental to the heart valves — forces the heart to do more than it can handle, which causes irreparable damage. Who knew? 5Ks and 10Ks are okay, though, and even those in moderation.
