A desk pop is a real thing, right? Do you think they will give him a wooden pistol and a rape whistle in place of the weapon?

Yeah, but it's a full-sized handgun (I have one and I love it). True, but everything about this reportage is suspect in my mind. I do know that's a .40 cal hole, so "22" either came from an inference a "Glock 22" is a "baby Glock," or they're talking about a Glock 27, and I haven't got a clue where they got "22" from.

    G23 is .40 also. It’s a smaller version of the G22.

Ah, maybe that’s it! Not the “baby” model but certainly a compact.

She handed it to Santos and asked him about its use, sources said. The second deputy pointed the weapon at the first deputy and apparently unaware the weapon was loaded pulled the trigger. Don't bother to check the chamber for a round. Point the gun at another person, pull the trigger - either this article has left out some major details, or this supposedly "trained" law-enforcment officer is up for the stupidest cop of the year award.

My daughter pointed out that a Glock 22 is a 40 caliber pistol. That hole looks like a 40 caliber hole. So the reporter heard Glock 22 and in his head it turned into a 22 caliber Glock.
Kind of like when a Sheltie bites someone and then when the reporter shows up it turns into a pitbull

I read somewhere the best way to clean a firearm is while it’s pointed at a colleague.

Glocks ain’t safe. I don’t care what any self-proclaimed “experts” say.

To: papertyger
Yep. Guessing his duty weapon is probably a G22 or 23 and his off duty pistol is a (subcompact) “baby” G27.

Back when I was in an org that had a lot of retired (or close to it) uniformed policemen, they had what seemed like an endless supply of stories about how "so-and so" accidentally blew a hole in some part of the station and or the furniture. I don't remember hearing that anyone was seriously injured in any of these stories, although maybe those didn't get told when we mere civilians were listening.
One of this group had himself touched off a shotgun some years ago as he was putting it into a rack, and he got a good deal of chaffing about it one night, albeit they made it clear that he got the LEO equivalent of a dumbass-of-the-month award and that was about all. Simpler times.
