Obviously I disagree with your characterizations of what happened in Colorado.
****************
And that’s OK. I respect your views.
Its good that we can openly and honestly express them in an open forum — without resorting to backroom tactics. Let the FReepers decide for themselves which side they want to “vote” for. ;)
“The rules are the rules, whether they benefit your candidate, or work against him. Its up to each candidate to understand them and use them.”
I would wager that Cruz and his campaign team were no more aware of the intricacies of all these party rules than the Trump people. Team Cruz would have remained ignorant of them had Jeb Bush or, later, Marco Rubio, succeeded at the polls and not been forced to ‘suspend’ their campaigns. Now the party insiders’ last hope vs. Trump is Cruz, and they are guiding him thru the labyrinth.
It is crooked to use crooked rules and then shout “Rule of law!” as the Dems are wont to do.
“Can wicked rulers be allied with you, those who frame injustice by statute?”—Psalm 94
Frame injustice by statute (law), then insist “Rule of law!” The LORD sees through it, and if most of us weren’t so hardened our knees would be knocking and our teeth chattering at the dreadful accounting that is coming.
By the way, don’t be surprised if Cruz gets pushed aside by the GOPe if he should succeed in his quest to beat Trump at all costs. The GOPe will dump him faster than you can say Paul Ryan. Cruz is toxic in DC and the establishment has it in for him.
But, honestly, put yourself in Cruz's place - what should he do, quit? He'll no more likely do that than would Trump if their roles were reversed.
Just saw this.
Is this even legal?????
“3m3 minutes ago
Stephen Bennett; @ScreedofChucky
Just got an email from #LyinTed that I can become a ‘Deputy Delegate’ w donation of $35 or more. Uhhh no thanks #NeverCruz. Not now not ever”
The primary process is not a democracy. Never has been.
*************
So whats the point of voting? The parties and their candidates bombard us with ads telling us to vote, but in the end its all a big charade. The party apparatchiks decide all.
Im sure many delegate votes are purchased with various political favors. Such corrupt deals effectively negate the votes of the common man.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
So what exactly stops YOU or any of us from learning the rules in our state and choosing to participate. Nothing.
People are blaming Cruz for building a grassroots organization rather than running a reality TV show and calling it a campaign.
IF YOU wanted thing to be different YOU could have gotten off your butt and done something other than whining, like Trump.
BTW we aren’t a democracy, we have been a representative republic.
I don’t think Cruz should quit. He should continue to run and let the process play out. Its a long time until the convention; who knows what crazy stuff could happen between now and then? Rubio and Kasich have delegates they could release. Keep playing until the last out in the 9th inning.
But Cruz is playing with fire right now. After eight years of Obama, the people in this country have had it with sleezy politicians and their underhanded power grabs. Millions of voters will stay home instead of vote for more of the same.
Its a matter of perception. I don’t consider what he’s doing sleazy or underhanded. Its simply how its done.
Obviously the electoral college does not apply. The Constitution does not apply to the process. The political parties are private organizations that can choose their nominee any way they see fit. They’ve just usually decided that it’s prudent to nominate the candidate who the most voters support. That theory will be put to the test this year...
The NRC & DNC are private organizations.
Just think of each chairman like a Commissioner of NFL, NBA or MLB teams.
Their teams(states), Their rules.
Your hatred for Ted Cruz borders on the psychotic.
...and you are not alone.
Colorado voters should have known this from past primaries utilizing the same sort of rule. They should have protested this well in advance.
Again, Trump's advisers dropped the ball. They should have been lobbying the same delegates...but didn't.
What now? Should CO negate the process and start again? Perhaps. One thing is for sure, CO voters were asleep at the wheel.
YOU have no idea what I do in the political realm so YOUR uninformed speculation about my supposed actions is pure arrogant nonsense and ignorance.
Now if we could get back to the issue at hand...it would not be hard to imagine how Mr. Cruz would react if he had won more states than Mr. Trump and the delegate tally was reversed. I think Mr. Cruz would self-righteously defend the significance of his wins and claim that it represents the will of the people. In fact, for quite awhile Cruz was happily claiming that he had "beaten" Trump in several contests in order to cast himself as a winner (he actually was not the real winner in terms of coming in first in some of those states however). Nonetheless, he tried to appear as the vote winner until it was clear he was losing and needed to resort to other tactics. Incidentally, the GOPe will probably disgard Ted after they're done with him. I suppose you would be OK with their interpretation of their rules.
I guess you’re right, none of this is new (just new to some of us).
Is it that we’re asleep at the wheel or just too busy WORKIN’ for a livin’? Cruz is “just doing his job”, whereas we’re at a disadvantage since our job is far removed from the process. I find it hard to believe Trump knew nothing about all this. Maybe he undermined his own brass knuckles instincts by insisting he is an “outsider”. Outsiders can’t hustle delegates like an insider can!
At least Ted didn’t slander and smear the conservative base by having left wing liberal operatives from the slime media in N.Y. label them ANTISEMITIC.
And good for the CRUZADERS in the mile high state.
Fight, fight, fight, the fight is on boys.....
Jedi.
You’re a bigger crybaby than your idol Dishonest Don!
Boo Hoo!
I support Cruz, but even if I supported Trump in the primary season, the rules don't sit right. Gonna be a helluva convention. lol
With lil doubt...one of the candidates would have taken advantage of the rules. Trump, Cruz, Jeb...whoever. It's a nasty campaign.
