Yeah, didn't look lifted or anything but perhaps it was never maintained and that was the day. Me and my extended family have a long history with Jeeps, my wallet is happy that I've moved on :).
This particular problem is specific to Jeeps. The vehicles that suffer from this have a bolt in the steering linkage that's too small for the hole. To compensate, it's torque'd to 135ft/lb(which is a LOT). Once it wears a little, the front end can floppy around like a fish.
No, I’m not buying that. If he had character he would have apologized BEFORE he knew about the camera. Apologizing after he found out about the camera is just a performance to mitigate the damage.
