When I saw Eraser Head back in the Eighties, I was so puzzled by that movie, I thought “It can’t be that bad...I must have misunderstood it...it was deeper in some way than I thought.”
So I asked my brother to watch it and tell me what he thought of it.
He has never forgiven me for that.
Speaking of rip offs
Valhallah Rising should have gotten Best Supporting Picture for The Revenant
This article is longer than the movie.
And they both owe Terence Malick
For some reason I always want to point out that David Lynch actually directed a G-rated DISNEY film...THE STRAIGHT STORY.
I'ts about an old man's journey, by tractor, to see his estranged brother. Simple and touching.
I’m watching currently Twin Peaks for the first time, missed it the first time around. I always liked Lynch, I even appreciated Dune as it’s own thing. Peaks is great stuff, so weird. I love that good people believe each other when they find something completely fantastic and horrible, no trying to convince anyone like we always get, they just know that this is a sane good dude and go along with it. I love how much weird humour he puts into it, sandwiched between soul crushing horror.

Movie was weird, though. I may have to watch it again after 30 years to get what I missed.
I liked that one too, Harry Dean Stanton is the brother, if I recall.

It’s hard watching it now knowing that Farnsworth offed himself.
I’m probably one of the few people that love Lynch’s “Dune”, including the extended version he refused to put his name on (”Directed by Alan Smithee”).
I’m sure you are among the few!
As beautiful as her mother....
Sad. Apparently he was very ill (cancer) during the making of the film. His fiancé said he was in tremendous pain, but didn’t want people to know it. Self-inflicted gun shot.
I like Lynch Dune for it’s own bizarre and goofy weirdness. I just separate it from the actual Dune.

Yes, Stanton had a somewhat similar story arc to Straight’s in PARIS, TEXAS. Another good film, if too slow for most.
Apparently, Lynch turned it down because he wouldn't be given the independence and freedom to make the movie according to his own vision.
So he made Dune instead.
It’s slow, but weird. I saw Paris recently, maybe off TCM in the middle of the night when they actually play weird stuff.

Longer. sheesh! I had to skim over the bla bla bla.
No Mention of Mulholland Drive? - that was a freaky bit of movie making. So disturbingly hot that Betty (Naomi Watts), "a wholesome Midwestern blonde who has come to the City of Angels seeking fame as an actress...." Who can decode the ending of that thing?
HEINEKEN!!!! F___ that S___! PABST BLUE RIBBON!
