Press the windows key - do not click on anything, just type ‘screen saver’ then click on ‘change screen saver’ where you can fix your issue by changing the timeout to ‘never’ (or something much more suitably longer.)
I dumped WinXP totally 2 months ago and couldn't be happier.
LibreOffice comes with it and is a complete replacement for MS Office. All Office doc formats work with it.
If you HAVE to have some of your programs that only run in Windows...install PlayOnLinux via the Software Manager. You can run most Windows programs on Linux with it. Plus a 10 year old can figure out how to use PlayOnLinux with no manual or training. It has a learning curve that looks like an F-16 going vertical at full throttle on a 500 foot runway.
And, Firefox comes native. Importing your current profile to the Linux machine is easy.
