Gohmert has often gained victories by gathering others to his views/amendments to vote down legislation proposed by the Dems, just as Cruz did with Rubio’s Gang of 8 amnesty bill.

Paul said he needed to ensure he was able to go home every weekend or he would not take the position. He was offered other things to make him take the job which he did not want at all. They did a good job forcing him to take it though.
