I’m looking forward to “Viceroy’s House” with Hugh Bonneville and Gillian Anderson as Lord and Lady Mountbatten. Should be an interesting film.
There were many more things that were unlikely to have happened through the show:
1. Barrow not losing his job after any number of nefarious deeds - Carson would have sacked him.
2. Daisy not losing her job after mouthing off any number of times.
3. Lady Mary never questioning the real reason for the appearance of Marigold (Edith’s daughter) in the Downton nursery, especially after Edith’s long sojourn in Switzerland, Edith mooning around the Drewe’s farm and the final serious confrontation with Mrs. Drew.
4. An apparent endless supply of handsome, rich, aristocratic, age appropriate suitors for widow and mother Lady Mary following World War I, and said suitors putting up with Lady Mary’s haughty and insensitive ways. I mean, COME ON. All the men could have had their pick of the crème de la crème of rich young aristocratic ladies who had never been married and didn’t have a child in tow.
5. Isobel Crawley allowing a known village prostitute to work in her home. I know she was a self righteous do-gooder but I doubt at the time a woman in her position would have gone that far.
Apparently in the UK “Call of the Midwife” ended up being more popular than “Downton Abbey” after a few seasons.
I prefer Downton Abbey though...:^)
Maggie Smith is amazing.
Phyllis was an attractive redhead in an old “Midsomer Murders” episode.
Golly gumdrops! it was a good show.....
That last sentence of yours is a work of art.
I am humbled.
