I sort of prefer
General *Howling Jake* Smith's methods. Including the train, equipped with a steam-engine-powered flamethrower, with which his troops simply burned out every Filipino village along the tracks.

Thanks for sending. Hadn't heard of Howling Jake Smith. Wounds and lead in him from Shiloh and Cuba. Must have been a real warrior.
I lament that his stock would not be able to do what he did now. . a pre-Patton kind of guy.

I suppose you're aware of the little detail that one of George S. Patton's boyhood mentors and storytellers was Confederate cavalryman and guerrilla raider John Singleton Moseby, aka The Grey Ghost.Wow, didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Will research. . I wonder if they learn about him at West Point now? Prolly not, not PC. .
