I'm fairly scientific, and I am still failing to see one real practical application of this discovery. The U.S. Military is always looking for new ways to kill annoying people and is usually the first customer of new science. Using curved lenses made of tungsten it might be possible to build a long range gravity wave radar to counter stealth technologies, although DARPA is probably more interested in quantum entanglement radar at the moment.

Another idea: gravity wave communication. It might be a new method to send signals that can pass through heavy objects. Military commanders could communicate with submarines on the other side of the planet.

FWiW, I’m pretty sure that the LIGO installation pictured above is the one in Washington State, and not the one in Louisiana.
