That could become a membership only site with paid ads or paid listings that could help fund Free Republic.

A boating forum would be better.

You'd have to ask Jim Rob, but, IMO, your proposal does not fit with his charter for FR.
We already have the BANGLIST. Discussing merits, problems, pros vs cons, etc., apparently is OK.
Conducting sales / trades is another matter, entirely. The MSM (and ATF) would have a field day with that...

Gee, about a week ago someone was wanting everyone to post pitchas of themselves at the range with a handgun in hand making some kinda honky gang sign, and now this.
I can't speak for the management of this place but... not me.
IBTZ.

My nephew, a TX Highway Patrolman, says that when a CHL comes up on his computer,
"I expect that I'm dealing with one of the good guys." Then, "When he shows me his CHL in front of his DL, I'm fairly sure he's a good guy..."

I’m sorry to inform you, but your name just went on the terrorist watch list. No more guns for you.

Not having a CHL in Texas probably marks the driver as some pajama boy weirdo from Austin.

What's the possibility of getting a firearm "Swap Shop " on here.
About the same as it being called the "Bitter Clingers' Bullets and Bibles Swap." Not very.
You're more likely to have a forum to discuss tragic boating accidents where firearms and precious metals have been lost by FReepers since January 2009.

Probably best to do the actual business off-site and private between individuals. Making FR part of the actual vehicle would not be a good idea.

In CA I also think they can search DOJ database for ‘registered’ firearms.
Don’t know how long that would take, or how often they do this.
