Take a look at the South Beach diet. But you will have to reduce your portions substantially. It will take a while for your stomach to shrink, so you’ll be hungry all the time at first.
South Beach can be a diet to lose weight, but it is also a maintenance plan. I like it better than Atkins because you can have carbs - but not empty carbs.
I lost weight on Atkins, but hated every meal. I am not a big meat eater and I especially don’t like large quantities of high fat meats (steak, bacon, etc.) I much prefer chicken and fish and even vegetarian. But I got used to eating way less carbs (bread and the like) so that was an improvement.
Weight Watchers is also very good if you really need/want to lose weight but want to learn how to have a varied diet and choose sensible portions. With WW there is the accountability factor and that’s one reason it works.
It’s hard to deny yourself and I like the viewpoint that you can eat anything you want, but just eat wee portions on an occasional basis of the bad stuff like ice cream, chips, etc.
Thank You!!
Please add me to the ping list and THANKS!
weezel - I hear ya. I lost 3 Biggest Loser contests at work - losing 15-28 lbs over 45-60 days each. But, unfortunately, I didn’t stay exercising and started to nibble again. So no contest this time, but, all who know me will say - I eat large quantities. and often.
The way I won the first one, like the Russian said to Rocky - I said to my Will “I will break you!” - and did juicing and broths for the first week - and that was during Christmas Holiday parties.
The point is this: You and I don’t NEED those big meals. Something inside makes us desire to have the quantity - but you’ll be amazed at when you are sick and tired of being fat/overweight - how you CAN develop the strength to push away. I actually had to treat it like an alcoholic or smoker and in the moment PURPOSE to push the plate away. The kids in China will survive another way. My body won’t shut down from malnutrition. I CAN eat a healthy nibble in 2-3 hours to keep the metabolism going - and I’ll savor every bit, eat it slowly, like I’m a condemned man before the Chair.
It really is a mental attitude. And you “gotta hafta wanna” or is it “hafta gotta wanna”.
You and I can do it. Learn to push away. Then learn to choose what sets before you more carefully - as IF every bite counts. So NO processed foods - NO refined sugars! Protein and vegetables and some nuts.
Then get out and do SOME type of exercise.
Would like to be on the Ping list!
