Someone suggested the reason to play Gabbert is to be SURE that they get the #1 pick in next year's draft...
With the way Tomsula was hyping Gabbert in the pre-season, you have to wonder if this move was not in the works already, though...
Because he can’t throw a football. Enough with Tebow. He’s a great guy. He’s just not good. Look at the people benched and the people that get called when someone is injured. You think if Tebow could play he’d be wasting away broadcasting SEC games? Hell, he’d be on the Cowboys right now.
Yep. Once opposing defenses keyed in to the read option, that effectively shut Kaepernick down. As a 49er fan, I hate seeing Kap fail, but his abilities as a QB are limited. He's a big, powerful runner; I wonder if he might have better success as a TE.
I'm not so sure Gabbert won't have better success than Kaepernick. If he can read defensive schemes and call audibles at the line he's already a step ahead.
That seems like quite a demotion. I'd be amazed if he took it.
I take it you don’t watch many 49ers games? Maybe one other QB in the NFL could make the throw he did to Boldin in the third quarter. He had a QB rating of 128.7 in that game. But a QB can’t do much with no game plan and no support. Against the Rams he was playing without a running back.
Had Kap exercised situational awareness and properly scanned the defensive setup prior to the snap, he’d have been able to audible and change the play.
but what I've noticed this year in my limited watching of it is that there are so many bad teams....
Seattle wants him. We’d use him as a back-up wide receiver since he’s too predictable at QB.
