I always find the details of social customs to be interesting.
I’m a real outsider as far as pro sports go, but how did a team with such poor record get so rich?
They weren’t a poor record team once but you have to go way back now. Hockey is akin to religion in Canada at least in the winter. The team in it’s greatest city enjoys a tight monopoly over the country’s largest audience and season tickets are passed down as family heirlooms. By all rights they should not be so rich but they charge what they want and get it. The Hockey Hall of Fame is in this city as well along with the Stanley Cup. It is just loaned out to the NHL champion each year. In a certain way the spirit of Hockey lives here.
