He dismissed his resignation as just an after thought and casual like ‘ya know guys I think I will eat Italian tonight’.
It didn’t work because he is devastated about being shunned by his party and abandoned by his ‘colleagues’.
Maybe he should be put on a suicide watch for his remaining days in the House.
Do a google search. All the info is there for anyone who wants it.
It’s been too many years since I had read that Sam Adams quote. Many thanks, bigtoona.
Never watched x-files. In fact, I don’t watch much TV at all. I have a business to take care of.
Congressman Boehner resembles a modern day Dean Martin-—Dino faked it with apple juice. And he was entertaining, boner is neither.
I have to say I never thought Boehner was the right stuff for Speaker. Now after just having heard his news conference and the reference and reverence for the Office of Speaker, I can see he never had a clue as to how wield the power to get anything done.
I go back to an episode of “Dallas” when Jock explained the concept of Power to Bobby. “Power is not something your given, no one gives you power, Power is something you take. If I gave you power then I gave you nothing”
Boehner, I don’t think, ever understood that, and that is why I look at his tenure as a failure.
If past Speakers like Sam Rayburn, Nick Longworth, Joe Cannon, and Tip O’Neil, had seen that press conference he gave they would all be tripping over themselves laughing.
Those guys understood power politics.
Jeb Hensarling — seeing his name floated today. Confess I don’t know much about him.
McCarthy -— IMO, as bad or worse as Boehner.
This is going to be one colossal proxy gladiator fight ahead.
Meanwhile this..

and this quote from Cruz:
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-34355043
After his speech today, Cruz expressed concern that Mr Boehner may be ending his tenure with one more effort at negotiation with Democrats.
If it is correct that the speaker, before he resigns, has cut a deal with Nancy Pelosi to fund the Obama administration for the rest of its tenure, to fund Obamacare, to fund executive amnesty, to fund Planned Parenthood, to fund implementation of this Iran deal - and then, presumably, to land in a cushy K Street job after joining with the Democrats to implement all of President Obamas priorities, that is not the behaviour one would expect of a Republican speaker of the House, he said.
PS: threads on both articles
You left out Newt on purpose or by accident?
In Bohner's case it's a mental disorder commonly known as traitorism, and it's most common symptom is collaboration with the enemy.
Nevermind. I see that the Speakers you mentioned are all deceased. Carry on.
Boehner, on the other hand, IS A Real Alcoholic and we all know it.
I understand and I agree.
Rayburn after 5pm always had an open bar for certain people and that was where the real business of government was done.
Over fine whiskey, cigars and food.
Ole Sam was the master of the behind the scenes moving and shaking.
He probably has PBA. He should discuss this with his doctor and get tested.
and not very entertaining.
Who cares what’s “going on?” He’s liberal garbage and needs to be thrown out. As in, off the planet.
When Boehner was talking tough when Obummer first took office about all he was going to do, suddenly there was an article in the Natl. Enquirer, with pictures, of him and a mistress. Boehner folded and he took his orders like a good boy thereafter.
Oh crikes another alcohol fueled crying jag. I’m glad I missed it.
