I dont live or work down town Denver. It is several miles away and with the cost of parking, the traffic hassles; etc, requires a special reason to go down there anyway. Even before this incident, I would only go down town once or twice a year. Mostly for the occasional political rally or sports event. Rarely was there a “reason” that justified the parking costs or the traffic hassles.
Now factored into my decision will be the risk of injury to myself and my family members, something that was not included in my decision making process. Considering how Obamacare has jacked up the deductibles, we are talking about real money (thousands of dollars) that may have to come out of my family’s budget.
Sir, I’m truly sorry for what happened to you and your family and understand your concern for your son(s) that were trailing you down the street. I’m also sorry for my knee-jerk reaction - however, with times the way they are and the alleged human beings behaving like rabid dingo’s, I was merely pointing out the fact that no matter where you go and for whatever reason, ALWAYS be prepared to DEAL with the “animals” at their level, or stay at home or be ready to fork out big money for doctors or funeral directors fee’s. I’m on a tight budget right now because of the IDIOT residing in The Rainbow House - but - if it could help at all, I’m willing to send you $20 to help as you see fit.

Yeah I guess it comes down to normalcy bias. My experience with Denver was based on outdated information and ultimately led to me underestimating the danger. I got lucky in that the ferals did not do long lasting damage to me.
As for the offer of money, I appreciate it but that wont be necessary. The Denver DA has reviewed my case and has approved it for being able to receive funds from the “victims fund”. I understand this is what the fines from criminal cases go into. I am not sure of all of the details as I was just notified this weekend, but it looks like they will cover my medical bills.
The only cure is tincture of time. In about 2 weeks things will be back to normal. Meanwhile good make up is the only thing, but if you are a male I doubt you would want to do that.
At least you can amuse yourself by coming up with a good story how it happened, and telling everyone a different version. That oughtta keep them guessing!
Not with a concealed carry permit. I carry all over Denver county legally with my permit.
Without a permit you are not allowed to carry even in your car. They did recently loosen up and say if you are traveling through Denver not stopping you may keep your gun in your car, as it is legal in the rest of the state.
