They tried. And failed. Good. What a silly thing to fight about.

If they threatened jail over this, they are fascists. They need to be thrown out of office.

Why do anybody want HOA's?
I can see why you want to keep a 'hood neat but way too often the HOA's get taken over by busybodies who run little dictatorships.

All HOAs try to be little kingdoms. Many assume more powers than they actually have. We were fortunate in that the HOA for this subdivision is very weak and are aware of it. ;-)
One time the HOA tried to make a neighbor remove his RV from his driveway because it was ‘unsightly’.
They asked residents of the whole subdivision in a ‘newsletter’ what they thought about it.
Over ninety percent of the responses were to the effect that they were jealous because they could not afford an RV! The HOA dropped the whole issue. ;-)

It is nice to see Junior Nazis get slapped down once in awhile. That’s what most HOA are.

If you buy the house you agree to the HOA.
Why would you then spend your life fighting over such stupid stuff?
Why did you move there?
It is very liberal to want what everyone else has, and then force changes after you finally get it. Very liberal behavior.
I spit on the behavior.

Now all the homeowners get a nice big legal bill for all that. Plus, criminal charges should have been filed.

Are you really that fascist, pro-HOA, no matter what? The HOA was in the wrong, made illegal threats, and even sued...and lost.

These rules seem silly but I keep coming back to the same answer — if you don’t want to live in a community with rules, then don’t buy a house that is subject to a HOA. Its that simple.
