Hi C,

It may be Eliot, but I know the line from Jim Morrison, aka The Doors.

I found your excellent post to be a perfect place for that line.

A celebration of stupidity that has taken over our culture. The Left’s demands for peoples “right” to be ignorant and superficial.

Many years ago the ways a comedy skit that I would hear on my local radio station. It was a Movie reviewer who’s claim to fame was his ability to critique any movie by the title alone. Funny stuff, but it reminds me of how soo many people form their opinions today.

Headline, check.
Image with caption, check.
First paragraph, check.
Feeling of being informed, check.

I read stuff, Freepers read stuff, lots of stuff from multiple sources and we tend to have a greater desire to analyze and understand. We actually like reading lots of stuff and that is a major difference between us and the left.

IMHO, there is absolutely NO other group of people that can analyze and distill information or issues faster and more effective with multiple sources all at their fingertips than the good people on FreeRepublic.

Maybe that scares some people.

After reading the Wiki page and just a few pages of T.S. Eliot’s “The Wasteland”, I have no doubt that this was a heavy influence on Jim Morrison. Morrison was very very well read and soo much of his work contained the style of Eliot.

“The poem shifts between voices of satire and prophecy featuring abrupt and unannounced changes of speaker, location, and time and conjuring of a vast and dissonant range of cultures and literatures.”

This could describe much of what Morrison produced.

There is a huge difference IMHO, between reading something and hearing something. The human voice has soo much more power to capture attention and evoke the emotions that create lasting impressions than the written word alone.

It seems to me that there are fewer and fewer people that actually listen, never mind read.

I get the feeling at times that “liberalism”, their beliefs and foundations will come crashing down at any time as soon as they actually define what they believe. From where I’m sitting, there’s absolutely no way they can continue to hold those views if they are thoughtful and honest. But they keep going. They find and create exists, rationalizations to excuse themselves and others from addressing their own human nature.

This goes really deep.

At the same time our Government/Media is creating as many “outs” as possible. Creating more and more reasons to not hold any Biblical foundations.

It all comes down to this;

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

This is where the war is being fought.

Growing up I felt that Jefferson's 'life, liberty, pursuit of happiness' were so true as to be axioms for America.

Now I as an individual still do believe that, and I identify with TJ and the other Enlightenment people known as the FFs,

But now I realize that I have in a way been naïve.

There are now, and there have always been, countrymen of ours (in name only, really) who pay lip service to the Declaration, the Constitution, the Star Spangled Banner, etc., etc., but they have no real grasp or belief of it. They are like agnostics or fallen away Christians who don't practice or pray or worship, but they put up lights on their eaves every year and get a big Christmas tree, etc.

Back in the time of the Revolution these gloms were there, silent, not really caring one way or another.

A minority of people were the true patriots, and they accomplished great things.

So now you and I wish there would be some great reckoning where the liberals, communists, socialists, fascists, democrats, whatever you want to call them, will see the error of their ways, and confess, and come clean, and atone, and become part of the good guys.

But they never will. They will always see themselves as good Americans, but of course they are a cancer on America.

We can fight to make parts of America great, maybe most of America great, but, for there to be any great reckoning, of the kind that happened after the Treaty of Paris, when we won, and the Loyalists were run out of town, and ambivalent gloms were forced to swear oaths of allegiance to the USA, well, I think most Americans are not there yet on the bravery/patriotism scale.

Someday, maybe with Trump at the helm for a few years, people will be proud of the United States again, and enforce laws against sedition, treason, rioting, and planning the overthrow of the Government.

There have been multiple times in our history when such laws have been enforced, but there is no time as bad as the present when so many seditious immigrants (Muslims) and disloyal and treacherous countrymen (Rats of all the species listed above) are so deserving of being arrested and tried and either put to death, banished, or imprisoned for life.

We as a people are going to have to develop the stomachs for enforcing laws about treason, sedition, rioting, and suppression of communism (like the Communism Suppression act of 1956). And we are going to have to start getting a lid on all these subversive, seditious, and treasonous immigrants, illegal and legal, and throw them and all such disloyal citizens, out of our country.

Or we are soon going to be like France, where we have subversive muslims and other scum rioting and setting fire to our cars nightly.

It is coming, we must get brave to stay free. I am looking forward to it.
