The problem with the “self-made man” meme is twofold:

1) he inherited very big money and position from dad.

2) the money he made was largely from the underside of the economy, promoting huge gambling, and the more tawdry forms of entertainment, appealing to the more base instincts. Legal? Yes. Admirable? Not so much.

I came across an article, Donald Trump, Real Estate Promoter, Builds Image as He Buys Buildings, in the NYT from November 1, 1976. It is in their archive (TimesMachine) and I am not going to pay them for access.

Thanks. Those are interesting reads.
They are really digging deep into the past to try to find dirt on Trump.

Our search %o find his background. Good sound German work ethic. Which the farmers of the midwest share. Read THE LAST FARMED by an ex-Rolling Stone editor who threw his conservative roots out when he went to college and eventually returned to the farm and his roots
Have thought of the similarities

Not sure what it is but it’s been pointed out that Palin has a connection to same vicinity

Am still searching for someone to handle the ping list. Can give you a dozen names off the top of head but using cell makes it difficult to manipulate a list

Sorry trying to get used to a new tablet which edits my edits. By the time my editing is finished its a mess but need.something larger than cell as eyes are fading

Here you go. I’ve bought over a dozen copies. Loan them out and that person gives them to family and I just buy used ones now

I'm starting to have that problem.
Automatic editors in word processing can be a real pain, and it's hard to catch an INCORRECT correction.

Thanks for the link.
I put it in my "Wish List".
