I’m glad they’re pushing forward a little with FO4 graphics, though it looks like many of the old animation quirks and weak textures remain. I accept this as a “style”, even if it’s just Beth flogging Gamebryo engine again and again.

I’m ready to get off the console merry-go-round. I’m seriously considering a Steam Machine.

What got me with the F4 vidoe GFX wise is that it looked really saturated. Too bright compared to F3 and FNV.

I know a lot of people bagged on them for looking too drab/dull, but I liked it. Or I just got so used to it that the new game (from what little we see so far) looks almost cartoony colorwise.

Not that I’ll bitch much.

“I don’t know when Backward Comparability went out the window, I guess when they found more money to be made.

PlayStation 1 games were compatible with The PS2.

Why not the PS3? They Still Use DISCS!”

This story isn’t about backward compatibility. This is a new game that is coming out, not some old game for the old system.

I’m looking at the Cybertron line on Amazon. Trying to keep it in the 600 a 800 dollar range and avoid Windows 8 if possible. I need a new PC anyway for all the other things.

Yea, honestly, I’d enjoy FO even if it consisted of a series of animated pencil sketches. Gfx aren’t my primary concern with this game, but some of the perennial bugs and janky animations irritate me after all these years.

The color is a fresh look, though maybe a bit overdone. I’ll reserve judgment until I see more evidence. I haven’t bought new releases in years, stocking up during steam and gog sales instead, but I’ll probably buy fo4 within months. I just want to wait for mods to appear.

I already have a PS4 and XBOX ONE so Im good..what sucks is that the PS4 doesnt have external drive support..these games require a lot of hard drive space, at least for the XBOX ONE I can use my external drive, for the PS4 you can’t..so Sony better get their act together because the newest Batman Arkham game requires 45gig

I’m not familiar with them. But any decently speced modern box will run games well at decent rez. But make sure you get a good GFX card with it or plan to spend even $200 separately for a flagship card a year or 2 old. It really matters.

My Asus card goes for that used and some even newer/hotter cards can be had new in that range.

A modding trick that can help:

You don’t HAVE to run 4K textures to get a big appearance boost. Just use them selectively. Ig you load up every HD texture you can find, you WILL need a very high end card. But if you just use them on things you look at a LOT, like NPC’s/armor, they eye is drawn to that and the brain is fooled to an extent that other things look better than they actually do.

Fyi: Win 10 pc’s will hit the market in a handful of months, probably before the game. Win 10 is going to revert, in most ways that matter, back to a more win 7-like experience.

I’m a story guy too. (D&D back in the day ;). I’d be happy with poorer graphics as well if the Game is up to it. I think it will be.

If your game, then the ps4 had is user upgradeable. It’s easy, and instructions are all over the web. Throw in a 1-2 tb drive and you’re golden.

I’m looking forward to the possibility of some flashback play from the time before the war. A chance to experience “America” as she was during the golden age.

Yeah, I have time to wait for Win 10 and let the dust settle on the usual release glitches. I have neighbors with Win 8 on their PCs and it looks like a train wreck. Good advice on the graphics card. Thanks.

Yeah Ive heard of people putting those SSD hard drives into their PS4 but I dont know how to do it and I dont want to risk it..would much rather wait for external drive support, you would think once Microsoft came out with the idea they would have followed

I understand your concern, but watch the videos and read some of the instructions. It's super easy. Sony built the ps4, just like the ps3, to make replacing hdd easy. Here's Sony's own instructions: https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5107/~/upgrade-ps4-hdd

As far as using an ssd, it's not really worthwhile if you can wait a few extra seconds for load screen. That's the only difference. Any 5400 rpm, or 7200 rpm hdd will do nicely. Have fun!

I wouldnt mind paying someone to do it for me, but knowing my two left hands I would end up breaking it LOL. I did this once with my PS3 and it worked just fine but with the PS4 I dont know, just on the fence about doing it, I hear Sony will release a 1TB PS4 in the fall, figures, they always do that
