Because Brilliant does not mean Wise.
I was a genius at 20.... BUT.. alas; grew progressively DUMBER over the years..
What’s “Chic’” is not usually “smart”..
Biker protesting helmet laws dies of head injuries from crash
Exactly. I know a guy who belongs to Mensa and has a brilliant career in science. Yet he lacks common sense, has made more than one bad choice.
This
"Don't let schooling interfere with your education."

And the verb in the headlines is in the past tense.
p.s. This would be a great outing with the kids.
There is never any good that comes when humans and higher order mammals meet. Big cats, bears, wolves, big apes and monkeys and killer whales aren’t house pets. They’re incredibly swift, strong and powerful animals with million of years of instinct and evolution hardwired into them and their behavior around humans is always unpredictable. Such encounters usually start out bad for the human and end up tragic for the animal. Why anyone would want to be messing around with animals like this is beyond me but if one must it certainly pays to be well and heavily armed.
That is one terrifying poster, BenLurkin. Makes me embarrassed to be a grrrrrrl.
I wonder whether the alleged techie who got killed by the lion thought she could print out a lion of her own if she got a close enough look.
The Triumph of Style over Content hurtles on.
No lion has ever killed anyone and had the body dumped in Fort Marcy Park?
As I said, in that particular case I think you’re over- generalizing about animal lovers. The guy in question did serious work and broke new ground in behavioral and communication studies before he was killed.
RIP.
“I love you bear.” And they ate him-that is a fact.
Don't you know who I am
I agree. By all accounts, this was a nice, well-intentioned, intelligent lady who made a mistake. I've made mistakes. Many of the posters here have also made mistakes. We're usually lucky in that our mistakes do not prove to be fatal.
I can imagine that the windows of the vehicle were clouded with dust, so she rolled one of them down to get a clear photograph. 99.9999% of the time, she would have been fine. This was the tragic exception.
This poor lady has a family, people who mourn her . Let's show a little decency here people.
I drove through Banff in Alberta and spent the night in a campground and read the pamphlets put out by the park rangers about the dangers of bears. There are both grizzly and black bear in Banff and though most people are smart enough to know that grizzlies are dangerous, many people think black bears are ... I don’t know... domesticated? Anyway, one of the stories in one of the pamphlets was about a couple who balanced their 2-year-old on the neck of a black bear to get a photo and the bear suddenly swatted or snapped and killed the kid in an instant.
People can be exceedingly stupid on the subject of wild animals.
