Let me just quote Barbra Streisand's "Yentl"--from the climactic scene, where the lead character reveals herself to her male friend Avigdor:
Yentl:Witnessed what, a marriage between two women? It's null and void.
Avigdor: According to divorce procedures...
Yentl: No, according to God, it was not a marriage.
At one time, the liberal Barbra Streisand created art that was indeed in sync with true Judeo-Christian ethics: respect for biblical marriage, true belief that men and women needed each other, that women ought to be educated and respected, and that there was a Creator to whom we were responsible.
