Thanks for the affirmation!
You must really hate the Amish, then. And, they don't wear deodorant.
I've watched their show and I doubt I ever will. But, I do admire the fact they have been politically active and fought laws that would allow transgendered into women's restrooms and the Josh was working with the FRC.
Who gives a damn, though, if they are on the right side of the cultural wars if one has a bug up his or her ass about their fame?
Do forgiven people (those who are sorry for their sins) make incest jokes on TV to their victims on TV?
Josh did a few years ago. It's on video, preserved forever. Does that show someone who, years later, is sorry for raping his four year old sister and others?
His parents allowed him to remain on the show after that. Does that show their compassion and sorrow for the victims?
Does forgiveness just mean saying that you are forgiven so you can continue on with your TV show, or does it mean actually being sorry and not continuing to torture your victims in public?
That was in 2008. Apparently, the FRC was impressed enough him to give him a job.
And, you expect the parents to keep Josh away from his sisters permanently? His father-in-law was impressed enough with him to vouch for his character.
I asked you a specific question.
Why are you refusing to answer it?
Is publicly joking with a victim of sexual abuse a sign of having changed due to prayer and grace?
You want me to value the word of a man who had his daughter marry a five-time child molester after he made that joke? Not going to happen.
He did make the joke to his sister and he was with going out with fiancée at the time.
I really hope someday you screw up badly and there is no one there to give you anything but scorn and condemnation. You deserve to reap what you sow in this life.
If Duggar is redeemed enough for his father-in-law, who knows him, that is good enough for me.
Sorry, if they spanked the kids and didn’t leave any bruises, that hardly seems like a big deal. Actually, it is quite Scriptural. This really has nothing to do with the other situation...
Teaching a young child to stay within a defined space (presumably for his/her own safety and to make sure he/she doesn’t wander off) is “sick” to you?
He did make the joke to his sister and he was with going out with fiancée at the time.
What does that have to go with anything? And you left out the part where he made the joke on the air. How do you think his sisters felt?
I really hope someday you screw up badly and there is no one there to give you anything but scorn and condemnation. You deserve to reap what you sow in this life.
You repeatedly excuse the worst behavior imaginable against the most fragile, innocent victims. Forgive me for not caring what an eager apologist for a child rapist and his enabling family thinks of me.
“Teaching a young child to stay within a defined space (presumably for his/her own safety and to make sure he/she doesnt wander off) is sick to you?”
Hitting a child is not teaching a child.
Positive reinforcement goes a long way in not only teaching, but disciplining a child.
The Amish are pretty much self-sufficient; they don't sell their kids on TV in exchange for a large home, furnishings, appliances, and a grand piano.
The Amish are not "worldly", as the saying goes. But they keep quiet and go about their business. They don't preen on national TV about it.
I understand what you’re saying, MamaB. But as you write, it was a different time. The Duggars, in choosing to adhere to the Gothard cult, have tried to make the grace-based Gospel into a Gospel of works.
They think that going around in costumes, wearing their hair long, and making the boys wear shirts to swim (what is THAT about?) are necessary for salvation.
That's a really good point. It makes me wonder if the brand goes beyond the Duggars to the Gothard cult, and if we have adherents on this forum.
BTW, you're still throwing around the word "hate" despite being called on it. That's a very liberal thing to do. Explain why you can't seem to restrain yourself.
Depends on how you define “weapon”. In my case, it was a green twig smaller than your little finger, and boy did it smart.
I’ll bet.
The joke wasn't about what he did. I'm sorry if you're not smart enough to comprehend that.
What is hurting the victims is the media and obsessive idiots bringing what happened up when they had put what happened behind them.
The idea you care a wit about the victims is laughable.
You're obsessed with Duggar and condemning him despite the fact there is evidence he has gotten right with God. Hopefully, God will hold your sins to the same standard.
Mark 11:26: "But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions."
You're seriously not denying hate Duggar, are you? It would be laughable if you are.
Sadly, people like you drive those in need of repentance away from Christianity. Who wants to seek repentance for their sins if they knew heartless people will continue to bring up their failings.
You, more than Duggar, will have a lot to answer for before God.
