What was the conversation and interaction between the officer and the subject? said retired Los Angeles police Capt. Greg Meyer. Why did the subject run away?
I realize that the good Captain's "subject" comment is based on law enforcement terminology (as in "subject of investigation" and not "subject of the Crown") but it's still a rather cringe-inducing time to use it.

I sat through the entire Rodney King Simi Valley trial. The jury had seen video that portrayed a portion of the incident, but not the whole incident. Once they saw the rest of the video, they voted not to convict. Not necessarily on point, but the parallels about the media selling the public a story that left out many facts, and the public being quick to rush to judgment have some redolence here.
Funny, though, that here the LA Times is urging taking the time to get it right, whereas the King case was actually the capper of their ten year long campaign against the LAPD and they formed a media lynch mob before the ink on the first edition was dry.

Well, everyone who is just getting a ticket for expired plates should stop when the officer says, “Stop”. Or, should everyone be allowed to run and arm themselves? Would that make it a “fair fight” in your opinion?
To: Osage Orange
Ummmm....thru out the years and wars. Enemies retreating were shot at..and killed.
True but completely irrelevant. Cops are not soldiers and we are not at war with the citizenry of the United States. Shooting unarmed citizens w/o due process is murder. The day that ceases to be the case is the day I book a one way flight to New Zealand.

“You DONT shoot someone in the back. ESPECIALLY someone who is running AWAY.”
Even if they are toting an AK-47 and running for cover?
Or how about running to a car to get away? There are
reasons to shoot someone in the back.

Well, then, let’s execute the cop and put you out on the streets...I like that.

Then you should strive to learn more about the topics, this one for instance.

Okay. Change that to “running away”. If someone is trying to kill somebody and I come up behind him, well...

But even if youve just had an altercation with police if youre running away unarmed, shooting you in the back is a bloody crime. Yes it is. And if the officer knew him to be unarmed, why didn't the lazy SOB chase the suspect? It's not like the guy was running that fast or would have had the stamina to get too far.

Perhaps I already know more than you about the topics we have previously discussed.

I think that driftdiver would say that you ignored the point of his post.

I seriously doubt any of those scenarios are true or we would have heard about it. We need to keep one foot firmly planted in the real world. I’m not saying the guy is guilty. Only a jury can do that. But I will say the evidence is pretty bad. And yes there are bad and corrupt cops.

What does executing the cop for murder have to do with putting me out of my house? You sound like you have a screw loose.

Until the JAGS started throwing the book at soldiers and Marines who have done less than this.
To: Dutchboy88
Obviously not, you are showing ignorance on this topic for instance.
