We nearly lost our 5 year old greyhound to bad food. When we rescued her, her foster parents had her on Purina ProPlan, so we stayed with that for years and no problems. Then we noticed the packaging got changed and when we opened the new bag, the food smelled dramatically different. Our dog got really ill with gastrointestinal bacteria and after doing a little digging, we discovered that Purina was bought by Nestle and then changed the dog food formulas and was using fillers from...China.
And in other news, WalMart is having a special all next month... Buy ten 5oz cans of Great Value liver paté, receive a free large package of Premium brand saltine crackers, FREE!
Should have been done a long time ago.
I will not buy any dog products or snacks made in China...so that narrows the field a lot. We bought a de-hydrator and make our own jerky and snacks for our fur babies and have saved a mint making it ourselves.
The Chinese now make dogs and cats ?
A good start.
They should have done this a long time ago. The Chinese adult irate every thing. I have refused to buy their food either human or pet food for years

Sadly, its not just the Chinese products that are harmful to pets.

We recently discovered that Blue Rhino cat food (the one with the photo of a Lynx on the bag) was seriously harming our male cat.
A short time after putting him on it, he developed a serious urinary blockage, and bleeding. We were able to alleviate the problem with juniper tea, but didn’t realize what the cause was, and the condition returned in about a month. The second time, we eliminated the dry food completely, and he was ok for months. We let him have some more of it, partly because he loves the stuff, and the problem quickly returned.
Dry foods are simply not natural for cats.
