It would appear to be a huge industry and so complicated only a team of frightfully expensive lawyers could guide one through the maze of obligations to various treaties. Meanwhile, our sovereignty has been eroded if not extinguished.
The terms illegal alien, refugee and migrant have become blurred. Deliberately imo.
I hope that in some small way, I have been able perhaps to show why you were unable to qualify as a migrant. I daresay that if I, as an Australian attempted to move and settle in the United States, I would face the same obstacles. One of the links I posted, shows that the organisation recently calculated they need to resettle some 28 million displaced and vulnerable people.
There isn’t room for us.

That’s 21 million in 2007:

There isn't room for you??? My God...that's a big country you have there, about as big as the US minus Alaska. And your population is less that 1/10th of ours. ;-)
But seriously,I think I get what you're saying,Yes,we're a member of the UN and, strictly speaking, are subject to its edicts. But if you've been following Britain's struggle with the European Union you'd get some idea of what we in the US think of the UN.Britain feels they've lost their sovereignty just as we feel with the UN.Of course when our current President told the General Assembly that "the future must not belong to those who defame the prophet" we,here, knew that he was a tool of multi-cultural suicide.
As for being denied permission to live in Australia I absolutely understand that.I'm old,I'm in less than wonderful health and my lifelong skill (hospital administration) isn't in great demand. So I'd be a potential drain on the country rather than a plus.
I only wish our democrat Party felt the same way about immigration as does your government.
You might have misunderstood me, when I wrote ‘there isn’t room for us’ I meant not for you in Oz, nor for me in the US. There are over 20 million ‘people of concern’ in front of us! And the majority would appear to be either members of the cult of islam, or have been displaced by it.
