“Boys”? Is Miss Hissyslashy still with us?

My Rocket and Lucas Prince of Darkness have gone to the Rainbow Bridge.

When I feed the cats each morning, I have always called them saying, “Come on, boys,” regardless their
gender. Male or female, they respond to “Come on, boys,” and they enjoy their meals.

The two strays, Shadow and the former Miss Hissy Slashy, who is now Miss Purry Pet Me, are still here
with us. I am getting to the point of pining for another cat. I’m too old to take in a kitten because I can’t
promise to live for another 15-20 years, so any adopted cats we take in will be older. Older cats usually
get passed over because people want kittens.

My Rocket was two when we adopted him, and he had been in the Friends of Animals cages for a very
long time. He was shy at first, but he turned out to be the best cat we ever had. He was a very good boy.

I remember when Rocket passed (wasn’t it in August several years ago?), but didn’t realize that you lost Lucas. I’m very sorry for your loss.

When we first relocated, we had five cats and four dogs. We lost one kitty and all of the dogs, but The Creator send me one senior canine citizen who was tossed out of a pickup in front of a neighbor’s house. Then, He sent us an eight hour old puppy rejected by the mother. The puppy survived to become a nine-month-old firecracker. I’ve stopped worrying about when I’m going to croak with respect to the pets. I just hope that The Creator doesn’t drop the ball at this stage of the game.

I wish you a very Blessed Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Love,
Marcia

Rocky died in the early morning hours of August 4, 2012. He had a euthanasia appointment that day, and we kept it in order to have him cremated.

Luke died by euthanasia on October 21, 2014. He was very ill, and the palsy in his back legs was heartbreaking to see. In the course of about three
months, he went from being able to jump up higher than my head onto the 7’ cat condo, that we built for our pets back in 1996, to being unable to
jump on a chair. The vet held no hope for his recovery, and we had to let him go.

Thank you for your well wishes, and may your Christmas be Blessed as well. May the New Year be happy and bright for you and your whole family.

Love you too, sweetie,
Susan

We lost ours, Killer, in October. He was 17 and we’d had him since before we were married. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. We were assisted by a wonderful service which sent a vet to our home.

He is greatly missed. But our newest addition to the family, Mia, is slowly but surely acclimating to her duties as Head Cat In Charge.

Seventeen, wow. Coincidentally, my Rocket was 17 as well.
Sorry for your loss. It’s so hard when they go.

RIP, Killer. You will meet again, I truly believe that.

One of our first two cats was euthanized at home. We had
a really great vet, and he specialized in cats. He really had
a big place in his heart for our two.

Uh oh! HCIC Mia sounds like a little firebrand. May God
Bless her with a very long and happy life.

The younger and smaller of our two female cats, Shadow,
(who got her name by following me everywhere whenever
I went outside until I took her in) is definitely the Chairman
of the Board around here. Bossy little thing, she can even
cow Miss Purry Pet Me until MPPM hisses at her.

They’re so cute.
