One of the most ironic things about Common Core is that the advocates of it are continually claiming that it promotes “critical thinking skills”. But if a student does not think exactly as is being taught and solves a problem in a non-directed way actually using their critical thinking skills, they will be marked “wrong”. Conformity is the name of the the game when it comes to Common Core.
