I don’t mean to minimize Mel’s service to the USA during wartime. But I do maintain that his pledge to make people laugh at Hitler (I’ve seen him say this in an interview or two) doesn’t compare to the efforts that Moe Howard and Charles Chaplin.
And yes, this pledge requires more courage in 1942 than it does in 1965.
