Schools are now banning children from bringing their own lunch.
September, 2014: Feds to parents: No lunches from home without doctors note, school lunch only
A Richmond, Virginia mother received the following note, telling her not to pack a lunch for her pre-school age child.Dear Parents,
I have received word from Federal Programs Preschool pertaining to lunches from home. Parents are to be informed that students can only bring lunches from home if there is a medical condition requiring a specific diet, along with a physicians note to that regard.
I am sorry for any inconvenience. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact Stephanie [redacted] the Health Coordinator for Federal Programs Preschool at [redacted].
Thanks, Ms. [redacted]

“Schools are now banning children from bringing their own lunch.”
I remember that story from last year - there were odd circumstances; other stories about Lunch Inspections are known, too.
But I do believe in the vast majority of schools there are no bans on lunches from home, and no inspections either.
I just looked up the lunch policy at my own local school and there is no ban on home-lunches.
That said, I understand your sentiment. :)-
LOL!
Confusion has been abated...great plan.
