FYI....The Ebola patient in isolation at a Texas hospital has begun treatment with an experimental drug that was approved by the federal government ‘today’ for experimental use, the hospital said.

The announcement that he is now being treated with an experimental anti-viral medication called ‘brincidofovir’ comes ‘the same day that the Food and Drug Administration approved its use’ in experimental cases.

See post 20 and 21....’Experimental’ treatment authorised for Ebola for Duncan and he’s now being given this.

I think we need to give those trying to find treatment great understanding in that they are trying very hard to find something that works.

That tells me that Obola’s puppetmaster was involved. How many times do you think the FDA approved a drug so fast?

This was approved through an Emergency Investigational New Drug Applications program by the FDA.

They are attempting to fast track these experimental drugs and pushing them through.

Bottom line is they are experimental...Further we are not the only country on to this now...it's considered an International Health Crisis.. Who cares at this point what Barry has to say or involved with...there's nothing he can say or do that in any way erases the fact he's failed at everything and often made matters worse for us all.

Well if Dr.Phil says it’s impossible to catch....everybody party like it’s 1999! There is absolutely nothing to worry about!

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

"The Ebola virus is very difficult to contract," says Phil Smith, MD medical director of the unit, on its website. "The risk it would pose to people outside the unit would be zero, and this is something that can be very safely treated without infecting health care workers."

MADRID (Reuters) - A Spanish nurse who treated a priest in Madrid who died of Ebola is suspected to be the first case of the disease contracted outside West Africa . . .

A US doctor and missionary who was successfully treated for Ebola he contracted in Africa is back in the hospital . . .

Doctors Without Borders says the French nurse who became infected with Ebola while working in Liberia has . . .

The outbreak of Ebola virus disease in west Africa is unprecedented in many ways, including the high proportion of doctors, nurses, and other health care workers who have been infected . . .

I hope the post on Nebraska's web site was intended as satire.

I was thinking more about the bureaucrats at the FDA. It takes years to get a new drug approved by an evil pharmaceutical company, yet this gets approved in a day?

QuisCustodiet1776:" Looking at some doc purported to be from a few years back. They describe ebola as “one of the most contagious diseases known to man”."

Ebola is Bio-Safety Level IV according to the CDC.
In the Laboratory, that requires a postive pressure 'space suit'(head-to-toe),rubber boots, double layer nitrile gloves and a pigtail air supply (creating postive pressure),
and several anti-virial cleanses (UV , chemical,etc.).
Original CDC safety protocal was P-95 mask,PPE, gloves, booties, and apron .
Current CDC/MSF protocals are N-100 mask (air infiltration), full face mask with goggles, disposable PPE, disposable nitrile gloves, disposable booties.
Best known Ebola control: Quarantine , isolation, minimizing physical contact, minimizing open sores,
frequent hand washing, availability of anti-viral controls (bleach, betadine)for fomites , don't touch face or mucous membranes.
