But the Spirit and the Founder of FR remains. and the principles and precepts this nation was founded upon.
Let's Do What WE can to keep the channels of information flowing!!
I do remember seeing pictures of Ash meeting some Freepers at a bar. He looked like a fat Elton John. Har!
What happened to Beckwith, of the famous ‘Obama File’?
Since Feb 19, 2001
You’ve posted a total of 0 threads and 96 replies.
But I started lurking a few years before that.
And I still haven’t seen a turtle on a fence post.
I sure do not miss MurryMom....
I’ve been here a long time as well but took a very long hiatus after my husband passed. Whatever happened to Diogenesis? And Cindy from the Threat Matrix threads as well. Anyone know?
Just enjoying still !!!
“Still crazy after all these years”
I found FR in January 1998 from a Drudge link. Freepers have to be the most intelligent beings on the planet and I have spent countless hours of countless days reading and learning. I signed up as Dixiechick (maybe had a number after it...can’t remember) but didn’t post much way back then. When I tried to post at some point, my moniker/password or something had changed. And someone else was “Dixiechick”. For years, I just lurked and learned. Re-signed up just a few years ago. Yes, FR has changed but it’s still the ONLY place to be on election night and debate nights. I LOVE the Freeper comments then. I still look at it every single day for news updates. I feel completely “out of it” until I have my daily dose of FR.
WOW, You sing so purty!
This used to be a Conservative Republican web site.
Now, it's not very easy to define, since the battle against tyranny has basically been lost.
I just come here so I will know when to start shooting.
This is now an “extremist” site.
Still here since Since Sep 5, 1998
I used to hang out here a lot, and posted semi-frequently. There was a lot of sharp thinking and analysis, with arguments used to hone conservative ideas against one another. Ideas were challenged, defended and came out stronger because of it. Some were ardent social conservatives, others hard core objectivist libertarians, and others pragmatic policy people, but the stew made something greater for all that.
But, slowly, there developed a Freep Orthodoxy, with wolfpacks of enforcers attacking any mild disagreement and, punctuated by the occasional mass purge, most of the interesting people left, got banned or drifted away into silence. FR became an echo chamber, with no heterodoxy tolerated.
Occasionally, like right now, I’ll check in to see what has aggregated on a particular breaking issue, but it is now only to see the various news. The commentary these days rarely has anything to add to the discussion besides another chorus from the choir.
Sad, really.
BTW, my first post here was in reply to one of Laz’s. To this day, I remember his thoughtful analysis of the extent and limits of the 2nd Amendment. Thanks Laz!
