Our former vet believed pit bulls made good family pets. At least for those who were used to owning powerful animals. She said she had been bitten by most every breed, except a pit bull. She said that pit bulls, properly trained, were quite gentle. Problem is, most pet owners don’t know how to manage such a dog.
BTW, our Great Dane, Ginger, is probably more powerful than any pit bull. I’m thinking Ginger was trying to protect us from what she saw as a major threat.
My vet is also my brother and he doesn’t want pitt bulls in his clinic. A few years ago I had a puppy flown on (I think it was) United Airlines and the only question they asked me was if the dog was a pitt bull over 6 months old.
A careless, self-centered idiot who ruined so many lives.
Prayers for them all.
Sorry to hear you were injured.. Hope you are doing better now.
I had a similar incident.. Fortunately, the pit was not able to get ahold of my Border Collie/ Sheltie mix. It was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.
Thanks for asking. Glad your dog was not injured. I’m fairly certain my Great Dane could have held her own with the pit bull but I imagine there would have been some major vet bills. My insurance has paid for everything and I’ve had no out of pocket expenses.
