I think that United States Army Air Corps Reserve pilot Major Amelia Earhart and United States Naval Reserve Lt Commander Fred Noonan-—former Chief Navigator and Inspector of Installations for Pan Am-—along with the Fairchild Aerial Survey cameras mounted in the back of their plane was forced down by fighters from the Akagi.
But hey, why spoil a good story about how the guy who pioneered Pan Am’s trans-Pacific routes was a “drunk” who got “lost”.
