agree with chuckles - Teamviewer is the way to go.
You really need to configure the IP manually though on the main system, so it always remains the same, no matter what order you boot stuff. (Could a non-constant IP address be related to your R-console problem?)
I have set my IP manually because my web box had problems on DCHP, so I just set them all myself. Before I got the TV box Everything works as it does now with DCHP. For whatever reason the TV box would try to steal IP addy’s and jam everything up sometimes. My laptops never had problems accessing each other even with DCHP before. It’s always been the same desktop that won’t allow incoming.
Tried a new number and activated with that. No patch now and still no joy.
3389 is listening on the desktop but I can’t telnet to it. I can telnet the other way. Also checked the regedit and the port is open for RDP.
Thanks to everyone!!!!
“Have you seen if Team Viewer works? I have found it easy to use and no catches.”
I use Team Viewer to remote back and forth between WinXP and Linux computers. It works well and is free for private use.
Excellent!!
Teamviewer is different, which can make a big difference depending on the scenario.
With remote desktop you open a separate session. Someone could be sitting at the keyboard with their own session while you work on yours simultaneously.
