One of the things that destroyed America (and was foretold by Orwell & Rand) is the criminalization of everyday unpleasantness.
Technically, what she did was assault. But to get the cops involved was overkill. I really hope they don’t press charges. Not on religious grounds. But, common sense. She’s already been humiliated before the world. She doesn’t need a criminal record for flipping out over an emotional issue.
I really admire the restraint, otherwise. If she was shrieking in my face like that, I fear what I’d do. She was trying to provoke them to violence. Either for publicity, or she wanted a punch in the face to pay for some dental work.
Who can argue with that? 5,4,3,2...
“One of the things that destroyed America (and was foretold by Orwell & Rand) is the criminalization of everyday unpleasantness.”
Back in Orwell’s day a woman who did this would have been carted off to a Nervous Hospital and evaluated. Or at the very least her family would have had Doc. Baker make a house call, mind you doctors did that back then.
“Who can argue with that? 5,4,3,2... “
Turning the other cheek? I saw the smirk on his face! He was not turning the other cheek, he was being a typical FReeper, trying to see just how much she’d make an a$$ of her self and she played right into his hands.
I still find it noble that he did not strike her like some FReepers wanted. Hey sometimes it’s just best to watch the show and laugh your butt of later.
Wrong! I must forgive whether I’m asked or not. I don’t forgive to benefit the person who harmed me. I forgive that person for my own benefit. If I wait to be asked I’ll spend my whole life in resentment.
“Forgive us. As WE forgive those who trespass against US.” It’s all right there in the Bible. In fact, we’re supposed to forgive 770 times. I’ve never had anyone do something to me 770 times so I don’t know what the commandment is if it hits 771.
Yes, Jesus is God. But you’re about to be told that you’re wrong.
And, “Beloved, do not take your own vengeance, but leave room for the wrath [of God].”
Their repentance, or failure to repent, is between them and God. It is not a show for my approval.
Porcupine theology....
Amen! It took me a lot of years to learn that “Vengeance is the Lord’s” because I simply can’t have it. I can perform a revengeful act but that won’t give me peace. Only forgiveness can do that.
This young man could have used his hand and slapped the woman’s face. But if vengeance is to be meted out, it will be from the hand of God.
And it’s not hard to pick apart what she is doing. She’s worshiping her uterus among other things. Hey, if she has a hysterectomy at some point, does she then lose her soul? The amusing questions suggest themselves.
“The harridan probably has NO idea what she’s doing.”
“He forgave those who did not repent those who were in the act of torturing and killing Him.”
You know that is kinda the impression I got when Jesus was on the cross.
If I ran into Janet Reno or a Clinton (or Lindsay Graham) and I had 20-something hormones and certainty ... I can picture myself losing it like this. I hope I wouldn't. But, I might.
And many would repent later on. They were included.
The ones who refuse to repent for an entire life leave God no other choice but to let them go to the hell that they so loved.
It’s 7 times 70 if I remember correctly, which according to my calculations is 490. But to be fair, there is a certain context to it. Forgiveness does not mean allowing someone to sin or do you wrong, it just means don’t repay in like kind. If we’re only nice to those who are nice to us, and cruel to those cruel to us, what good is it? That’s what everyone does, and requires no effort. It’s the unexpected that can have profound consequences.
“And its not hard to pick apart what she is doing. Shes worshiping her uterus among other things.”
It’s not her uterus, it’s her vagina. How do I know? See all those Femanazies walking around in vagina costumes? Think about it you should figure that one out.
It’s a valid thing to call upon the powers that God has duly established (Romans 13).
Well she did say uterus... just taking her at her silly face value.
Way to late for me to be doing math, obviously. But that verse does say that if a person comes to you and asks for forgiveness you are to forgive him 7 times 70. So that verse is saying they must ask. But there are instances all through the Bible of people being forgiven without asking.
On another note, I believe the “turning the other cheek” doesn’t mean to let the guy slap you again. I believe it means we are to walk away from the fight.
