its sad I have to teach my kids to defend and live off the land. I suspect it might be needed.
A lot harder for us city dwellers that don’t have the resources to have a bug out plan I gues we could go up into the local mountains but im sure we would not be the only ones if we had the bucks id get a nice Trawler or sailboat with water making capabilities and stock the hell out of it with dinty moore stew and fishing eq. and bug out to the lee side of some of our channel Islands here in so cal only thing id have to knock over a pharmacy for all our meds well at least for me and my live in mother in law maybe some xanax since i don’t drink anymore oh crap dog food too and dog pads good lord time to pray
He was the day after his father died, but he hasn't been one in a long time.
we bugged outof the cities about 3 years ago. we are on a lake with a large DNR preserve near by.
I drive 25-50 miles for my various job sites. I think it is WELL worth it.
When the poop hits the fan, I’ll have advance notice however I still feel to close to the cities.
With no way to pay them other than giving them our wives and daughters for a few minutes. Then they'll be growing marijuana behind the rose bushes. Turning our guns on us. Hot wiring our cars. Stealing our tvs and computers. Hocking our grandma's silver. Demanding they get seen first at the ER. Dumbing down even further our educational system. And destroying what is left of our government. Never mind, they're already doing that.
The tween-aged nephews told us last weekend that dictators were the best leaders followed by tyrants. Don’t tell me homeschool would save them because if the parents approve of this sort of education then their homeschool teaching would be ten times worse.
They have zero life skills and don’t want any. In a shtf situtation, they’d last less than an hour.
Maybe we should be doing that now while the dollar is still worth something.
It's all relative. Same as raising the min wage. It does nothing for your buying power. It only hurts the fixed income group.
There are resources and then there are resources. It all in who's doing them and for what. No size fits all. Stock up on the canned goods that your family already eats is an easy start. When at the grocery store, pick up a few extra cans. Doing that won't break the bank and before long you'll have a decent storage that will get you by a few weeks or months.
The problem with bugging out is you're leaving the safety of your home. You'll likely be without shelter. You wouldn't be able to take all your supplies with you. You may be going to the unknown whereas at home you know your neighborhood and town. Being on the road might get you killed. Others will be headed the same direction as you and will be scraping up everything in sight leaving nothing for you. Depending on the situation, buggin in might be best.
I have tons well not tons of can food lots of propane stored properly just in case my fans of my gasoline saving post toilet tissue I have two women I live with wife and monster in law 50 gallon water heater flats of water guns, ammo
Thank you for you post means for me to get busy
Of course, if it got *that* bad the use of metals (aka "showing lack of faith in paper money") would be outlawed.
You’re right about metals being outlawed. The powers that be intend to creash the economy so banning metals would be their next step. Can’t have anyone, but their buds, rising out of the situtation.
Right now I guess the law is that the dollar is “legal tender for all debts” .. it is but a small step to declare it as being the *only* medium for settling debts.
not the younger boomers...but the ones a little older....now in their mid 60's....
they felt no shame in protesting against my country then went immediately into govt jobs or private jobs and are now nicely retired with those fabled defined pensions that most of the rest of us will never ever see....
they came into power and that is why we have a gay leftist prez with many of same ilk riding shotgun....
of my three kids, two of them bammy voters for sure...they like everything the libs put out...gay marriage...hooray....Redskins nickname put down...Yeah....
and it seems its spreading to some nieces and nephews who grew up close and conservative....its like they all are throwing every value they ever learned out...
sometimes I think I'll just leave anything I have to my adult mildly disabled dtr who lives home...she doesn't pray with us but she's very anti obamma....maybe she deserves it...
bama's election coincided with several family disruptions...disruptions that might not have happened had Mom and Dad been here, but sometimes God wants us to figure things out ourselves...
I maintain a national malaise has hit us both individually and as a country...
my wonderful older brother of 61 leaving his wife of 30 plus years and having a fling and eventually marrying his 24 yro girlfriend, and having a baby..
another niece getting divorced after a huge wedding, and to heap more anquish upon that, she decided she was a lesbian and has two children in vitro...
another niece with 5 children getting divorced from her alcoholic husband...
nah...I miss my Mom and Dad but this world would crush their spirits, both the greater world and the personal world....
network.....develop friends who you can count on...barter....find out what YOU have in knowledge that might be useful to someone else...
I am so very thankful I was half raised by grandparents who raised a family through the Depression. I’ve tried to pass along life skills, making do, and needs vs. wants to our kids. My main goal was to have them able to take care of themselves early on in case I wasn’t around. One summer, college aged daughter had a place with a yard so the first thing she did was put in a small garden. I was shocked that some of this soooo dumb parent (must roll eyes and sigh when reading) had rubbed off a bit. Another shock was when Jr. was talking about how an admired pro gun and anti-hussein professor sounded a lot like us old fuddy duddies. That said, there are many things that didn’t stick such as values, goals and gay marriage.
IMO, getting away from an alcoholic spouse would be a good thing.
