Ever heard of Johnny Mercer?

Ever heard of George Gershwin?

Ray Davies is okay.

Here’s a favorite of mine. A positive song, yet not too heavy on the treacle...

I believe Mercer wrote more songs than Gershwin. Gershwin died very young, at 38, Mercer at 67, so Mercer had more time. This is not about the quality, just how prolific he was. Then there is always J.S. Bach........

You really got me with that one!
The whole “Low Budget” album is more relevant today than it was when it came out in the Carter years. And it was darn relevant then!

Cheers,
Jim

“Catch Me Now I’m Falling” is a GREAT rock and or roll song, too. The live version “One from the Road” is amazing!

One of the first two videocassette I bought back when it first came out! I’ll have to check for a Blu-ray version.

Cheers,
Jim

Yet he hooked up and had a daughter with super-lefty Pretenders vocalist Chrissie Hynde. Natalie, their daughter, is also a super lefty eco nut and was arrested last year for gluing her hands to those of her boyfriend during an anti-fracking protest in England.

It was appropriate then and it’s appropriate now. As well as Low Budget.

Well, to be fair — I don’t think he understood he was predicting today’s “progressive” tyranny.

He may still not get it.
