Awe, someone didn’t cook ‘em right. Grits with a slice of a fresh garden tomato. Um um nothing better!
Coastal Mississippi is another great place to check out. From Biloxi west is right on the gulf, beautiful Antebellum homes, several nice casinos, and the air force base in Biloxi brings in people from all over the country, which makes it a mini melting pot. Great fishing and golf, the further west you go along the coast and the people are a little more cajun with that great Acadian dialect. Your just a couple of hours from New Orleans which has the greatest food on the planet! Ten to fifteen minutes North from the coast and it’s rural, rolling farmland with a lot of beautiful pines and live oaks. Cost of living is great. I moved over this way from Mobile, Al. about 10 years ago and we love it.
And as far as race relations go, while it certainly wasn’t bad in Mobile, I felt it could be a little more tense in the city. Out here in the country, blacks and whites seem to get along just fine. Everyone’s much more laid back. We’re all just country, rural folks.
You need to try one of the South’s favorites: Cheese Grits Casserole. Delicious!
