I put Soccer & World Cup in same category as the WNBA

Feels like this soccer crap is being forced on us on ESPN, etc. Yes, just change the channel but why is there this effort to make believe that Americans love soccer and love the WNBA? They are two artificially created.
TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: soccer; wnba; worldcup

I think a better analogy between WNBA and soccer is that WNBA is where you get the people least likely to play basketball well to play basketball, and soccer is where you get people to use the least effective part of their bodies to control where a ball is sent.
I'm sure paraplegics and quadroplegics would thank you for that.
I'm not sure women would.

Very unfair comparison.
Players in the WNBA aren’t PMS-ing nearly as much as those in international soccer.

I am 67 years old, and I still remember the great time I had playing tackle football with my buddies, and viewing the introduction of soccer as a sport for those who were too pussified to play real football.

Don’t get too excited. Before the 1990’s NOBODY watched soccer either on TV or in person...

Again, not a soccer fan, but these are VERY GOOD tv ratings for any non NFL sport.

Went out to eat with the family Saturday night. Restaurant had a dozen or so TVs going. Half with golf, half with soccer.
Golf seemed like a rollicking, riotous, outrageous good time compared to the soccer snoozefest.
Globalists love to make Americans think we like soccer. Then, the USA will blend in the rest of the world and cease being so darn exceptional.
Not yet.

On ESPN47, Glidden is taking on Sherwin-Williams in the National Paint Drying competition.
If you remember the controversy from last year’s competition, Glidden was disqualified in the semifinals for having been found to have used performance enhancing thinners in its paint.
I am JUICED for this competition...

I wonder if the whole anti-soccer bias is really just about the name. If we called American football “tackleball” and called soccer “football” or “futball” or whatever like the rest of the world, I don’t think it would inspire so much hatred.
I think we’d just kind of look at it, laugh at it a little for being weird and boring, and then change the channel. Kind of like when curling is on during the Olympics.
I think its a branding issue. Like Coke versus Pepsi. We see “real” football as ours and “soccer” as something stupid because its theirs.
And to make it even worse, we aren’t the best in the world (or even close) in soccer, so that irks our American pride.
So, basically, if you don’t hate soccer, you’re a commie pinko bastard who does not love his momma, Jesus or apple pie and you have a picture of Obama next to your bed that you kiss every night before you go nighty-night in your flannel footie PJs like a gol’durn candy-ass Nancy-boy.

Agree it’s bad.
My SIL is a PGA golf pro, he can’t understand why I consider golf on tv a similar bore to soccer.

Are you Gay by any chance? Are coming on to me? You are confusing soccer with the NFL.
Every four years we get sour grape posts like yours. Soccer is the beautiful game. Even gay guys like yourself can enjoy it. If not, then who gives a flying f**k. The US game is about to start. Go USA.

I dont watch soccer because it reminds me too much of my love life during high school; a lot of chasing, elevated heart rate, lots of sweating
very little scoring.
A friend of mine describes soccer as, A sport for all the homosexuals that dont have the hand-eye coordination to play badminton.

Actually, I think if he was gay, he'd be watching rasslin.
You know rasslin? Two big, muscular men, all oiled up and wearing nothing but speedos, rolling around all over each other, putting each other in holds and bearhugs and stuff.

I will be going to the local soccer pubs to watch some of the games. Great atmosphere. The US is improving in the men's game. US women are the best in the world.
I am a big football fan, but it is really a niche game unknown to most of the world. Every country has a national soccer team and competes for a true world championship.

I really have nothing against soccer at all. I have a hard time watching it on TV, but I admit that's mainly because I don't understand what the hell is going on. I was mostly just being a cheeky bastard.
