No, Golden Slumbers/Carry that Weight was recorded by the "Threetles" while John Lennon was in the hospital recovering from an auto accident. The basic rhythm tracks were Paul on piano, George on bass, and Ringo on drums. Same for Maxwell's Silver Hammer, as confirmed by the Anthology 3 track.

You are correct. I have never heard anything approaching the sheer musicality and arrangements of the Beatles. Yes comes close.I was a huge fan of Yes. Went to several of their concerts, which also featured the most astounding stage sets by Roger Dean. He was so far ahead of his time, using projected images behind the band on the wings of a giant moth, things like that -- surreal landscapes that looked in the clouds and underwater at the same time. It was a very creative time in the early 70s. Never been anything like it since.
