Right...give him the death penalty. After all, it was just a leg and he doesn't need both legs. What a self-serving creep...
“10 months is a puppy Really?”
Uhhh...yes, it in fact, is.
Dog lover here chiming in. We don't have the full details here, but I suspect the cop only had a second or two to react to a possible vicious breed. At least the city should do is erase any police record, and buy them a new dog and pay them 5 grand for their trouble..
there - i fixed it for you
Out of curiosity, I called my daughter who at one time was with SFPD (they have an 8 month academy) and is a serious dog person.
She said one of the flaws with police training is that there is NO training on dealing with dogs. Which is stupid considering the number of households that own them and how often the police have to come in contact with them.
So the question becomes why, if the government is so infallible that it should run all of our lives, does it not do something as common sense based as train police about dogs? Well, because the government is, by its nature, incompetent and should be trusted with as little of our welfare as humanly possible.
I've got one that'll pin you down by sitting on your foot, and then beat your ankles black and blue with his tail.
My daughter has fostered a lot of pits and pit mixes. One was a lab/pit mix. I never felt unloved around that one. Or any of them for that matter. Velcro dogs...you know what I mean?
Groups that don’t shoot dogs:
Mailmen, meter readers, FedEx and UPS guys, Sanitation Dept., Animal Control, Lawn care dudes, Pool guy, Cable guy, Girl Scout cookie patrol, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, Census takers, Meals on Wheels, Publishers Clearinghouse.
Groups that do shoot dogs:
Police
Why is it only the police? Because they can.
It’s not a full-grown dog.
Magnetic Velcro.
In Evansville, IN, back in 2008, an officer pulled the same stunt...afraid he was going to get bit as he entered the back yard of a house being served a warrant. He encounters the dog, a 13-14 yr. old beagle/basset hound mix with cataracts that have blinded her, and she is deaf.
She is leashed and chained to a 20 ft. cable in a fenced in backyard...the cop says she growled at him and he was held off by her for a few minutes when she was threatening him, so he shot her once in the top of the head from 3 feet away.
Homeowners sued the city, got a small ($17,500) settlement.
