Yes, I understand your point now. In fact, I used to carry string bags for small purchases all the time because they fit so compactly in my pockets. I don’t like the approving looks I get now that the liberal crowd is feeling so smugly righteous, so I show my objection by toting awkward packages in my arms and shopping at nearby grocery stores that still give out bags.
You’re right, it is not a matter of what can be done. Plastic bags didn’t even exist a few decades ago. The question is, should we change our lives when the arguments to do so are presented with questionable intent.
This law was a purely political move falsely packaged as altruistic. It should have been put before the people to vote on rather than rammed through late at night by the Austin City Council.
If not, you are worrying about the wrong thing.
