It's down to me
The difference in the clothes she wears
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Ain't it the truth, babe?
Under my thumb
The scurvy dog who's just had her day
Under my thumb
A girl who has just changed her ways
It's down to me, yes it is
The way she does just what she's told
Down to me, the change has come
She's under my thumb
Ah, ah, say it's alright
Under my thumb
A siamese cat of a girl
Under my thumb
She's the sweetest, hmmm, pet in the world
It's down to me
The way she talks when she's spoken to
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Ah, take it easy babe
Yeah
It's down to me, oh yeah
The way she talks when she's spoken to
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Yeah, it feels alright
Under my thumb
Her eyes are just kept to herself
Under my thumb, well I
I can still look at someone else
It's down to me, oh that's what I said
The way she talks when she's spoken to
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Say, it's alright.
Say it's all...
Say it's all...
Take it easy babe
Take it easy babe
Feels alright
Take it, take it easy babe
Oh my goodness gracious.
I’m sorry I read this thread and I hope I forget that you attached this song to her suicide!

Yes his late girlfriend was a fashion designer but the lyrics in question say:
It's down to me
The difference in the clothes she wears
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
I take that as being the girl in question wears the clothes he tells her to wear because shes under his thumb. If the lyrics said the the difference in the clothes she designs you might have more of a point.
Jagger once said, "It's a bit of a jokey number, really. It's not really an anti-feminist song any more than any of the others... Yes, it's a caricature, and it's in reply to a girl who was a very pushy woman".
I always heard the lyrics to that song as a guy who is more fantasizing about getting a girl under his thumb than actually having one under his thumb, and in a rather sad and pathetic way BTW.
That is the thing about songs and song lyrics, we often put into them our own point of view and view and hear them in terms of our own life experiences which sometimes are vastly different from that of the song writer.
“You Can’t Always Get What You Want”
Sanctimonious, self-righteous, voyeuristic, ill-informed.
